Famous South actor Kamal Haasan has defended Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Udhayanidhi had given a controversial statement on Sanatan Dharma, after which Kamal Haasan said that the small child Udhayanidhi was being targeted just because he had talked about Sanatan. Whereas we all came to know the word 'Sanatan' only because of Periyar.
Makkal Needhi Mayam chief Kamal Haasan, while mentioning Periyar, Udhayanidhi's ancestors also spoke a lot on this. This is not a new thing. Periyar even worshiped in the temples of Banaras, bowed his head and even applied tilak. He told a lot about Sanatan Dharma. But imagine, how much anger must have been there inside him that in one stroke he left everything and started serving humanity. He served the society till his last moments.
In a meeting to be held in Coimbatore, Kamal Haasan said that DMK or any other party cannot claim Periyar as their own because the whole of Tamil Nadu considers Periyar as their ideal and follows his ideas.
Udayanidhi's controversial statement
In fact, Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had compared Sanatan Dharma to dengue and malaria and said that like these diseases, it should also be eliminated. There was a political uproar after this statement of Udhayanidhi. Leaders of BJP and opposition parties had commented on this. However, after the controversy escalated, Udhayanidhi clarified his statement and said that he had only criticized Sanatan Dharma. His statement is being misrepresented.
