Tata Group is once again working to prepare the country for the future. Group company Tata Projects is going to give shape to the rapidly developing semiconductor sector in the country. It has received a contract from American semiconductor company Micron Technology to develop the country's most advanced semiconductor plant.
Recently, during PM Narendra Modi's visit to America, America's Micron Technology had committed to invest in India. Now the news is that the company is going to set up a world class advanced semiconductor plant in Sanand, Gujarat. This plant will be set up in the Charodi area of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in Sanand and will be spread over about 93 acres.
Part of India Semiconductor Mission
This Tata Group company has experience in handling big projects. This company has prepared the new Parliament building. Therefore, Micron Technology has given the contract to Tata Projects to construct this plant. This project is part of 'India Semiconductor Mission'. In the first phase of this project, which will be implemented with a huge investment of about Rs 22,540 crore, a 5 lakh square feet cleanroom (shop floor for chip making) will be built. This plant is expected to be operational by 2024.
The country has received more proposals
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed on Saturday that the country has so far received two big proposals for semiconductors. These are expected to take shape in the coming few months. However, he did not give much information about these proposals.
Ashwini Vaishnav said that these proposals are also related to special areas in the semiconductor sector, which can make India a leader at the global level. He was speaking on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Micron's semiconductor plant.
