After this, medical institutes will easily be able to get academic cooperation from international level. Indian institutions will also be able to easily come forward to help other countries. When was NMC formed?
The National Medical Commission has been constituted through an Act passed by the Parliament. This is known as the National Medical Commission Act 2019. This is the highest institution of medical education in the country. New and old medical institutions are affiliated with this commission. It is mandatory for government, private and all medical institutions to get the recognition of the Commission. Operating any medical institute without its recognition is a punishable offence. The same commission also approves medical practitioners.
Students doing MBBS from abroad also get permission to practice only after passing through the expert eyes of the Commission. For this they have to give an exam. If you pass then you will be able to practice, otherwise you will have to try again.
Before the establishment of the National Medical Commission, the Medical Council of India was responsible for medical education and training in the country. MCI was established by the Government of India through the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. After the establishment of the Commission, this Act has been repealed.
