The violence that has been going on in Manipur for more or less 6 months is not showing any sign of stopping. Claims of improvement were made in between but the situation has reportedly worsened again. Meanwhile, the government is working towards adopting the policy of 'one force, one district'. The government believes that this will help in creating coordination among the soldiers and it will be easier to control violence. In view of the recent violence, the government has declared many areas in Manipur as disturbed. Due to the worsening of the situation, internet has also been banned.
If the government moves ahead with the policy of 'one force, one district' then one contingent of paramilitary force will be given the responsibility of one district. This will also help in fixing accountability and it will be easier to reduce possible disputes between forces. Meanwhile, the concerned contingent will be responsible for all the incidents occurring in the district. Violence continues even on Guruwat in Imphal. An angry mob vandalized the DC office and set fire to two vehicles in Imphal West. In the month of July, a boy and a girl students had gone missing. Later their bodies were found which were shared on social media. Since then the situation here is bad.
Maximum CRPF personnel are deployed in the state and hence it is believed that CRPF can be deployed in more than one district. All paramilitary forces will work in coordination with the state police. However, at present no official order has been issued regarding this policy, but it is believed that this policy can be implemented in the coming days.
Demand for additional forces, ban on internet also
The government has declared many areas in Manipur as 'disturbed areas'. In view of the tense situation, internet has also been banned. After the reduction in incidents of violence, the government recently restored mobile internet services on 23 September. According to Manipur Home Department, the Governor of Manipur has demanded more armed forces.
Many areas of Manipur declared disturbed
The areas include Imphal, Lamphel City, Singjamei, Sekmai, Lamasang, Patsoi, Wangoi, Porompat, Heingang, Lamlai, Irilbung, Limakhong, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Nambol, Moirang, Kakching and Jiribam, where the Governor sought deployment of additional forces. Has demanded. However, there are 19 police station areas of the state, where it is said that there is peace, which have been kept out of the list of disturbed areas.
Situation worsened after two students went missing
In fact, after the death of two missing students in the state, the situation has started becoming tense again. Students have come out on violent protests in Imphal city and other areas of the valley. No major incident of violence has come to light at present, but the situation still remains tense in Manipur. There was a lot of commotion and demonstration on the streets of Imphal on Wednesday night also.
