Opposition trying to prove Modi as anti-OBC on the pretext of women's reservation, what is BJP's counter plan?

The Women's Reservation Bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha today after being passed in the Lok Sabha. Congress has played such a gamble here that even the BJP led central government got trapped. Other parties of the India alliance also put forth the demand for 'quota within quota'. Let us understand how BJP will deal with this?

The Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, which provides 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and Assembly, has been passed by the Lok Sabha and has now been introduced in the Rajya Sabha. In the current situation, there is every possibility of the bill being passed in the Upper House also. The move by the Modi government to give one-third share to half the population is being called a master stroke by BJP, but the opposition has opened a front against not giving separate reservation to OBC women in the bill. Starting from Congress, all the opposition parties are trying to put the Modi government in the anti-OBC dock, to deal with which BJP has prepared a counter plan.

During the discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, everyone from Rahul Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi supported the bill, but along with raising the demand for reservation for OBCs in the bill, they also raised the issue of caste census. Not only this, from the opposition party, parties like SP, BSP, JDU and RJD are demanding 'quota within quota' in women's reservation, but BJP and Modi government are trying to show that there are three categories in the Constitution. MPs come after being elected, reservation has been arranged for all three of them.

Sonia-Rahul played OBC bet

Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday supported the Women's Reservation Bill for discussion in the Lok Sabha, but also demanded that the Women's Quota Bill along with sub-quotas for SC, ST, OBC be implemented immediately. Also raised the demand for caste census. Along with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi was seen supporting the bill and cornering the Modi government on the issue of OBC community. Rahul said that this bill is incomplete without OBC reservation. The answer to how many Dalits, tribals and OBCs there are in the country can only be found from the caste census. Whenever the opposition raises the issue of OBCs, why does BJP try to divert attention from other issues so that the OBC community starts looking the other way?

Raising the demand for releasing the data of caste survey conducted in 2011, Rahul Gandhi said that the data of caste census should be released, otherwise we will release it. Showing a list of Union Secretaries, Rahul Gandhi said that out of 90 Union Secretaries, three are OBCs. Rahul said that these five percent people control the budget. This is an insult to the OBC community. Rahul Gandhi accused the Modi government at the Center of being anti-OBC and demanded a caste census. In this way, the political intention can be understood from the way everyone from Rahul Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi has raised the issue of OBC reservation in the name of women's reservation.

Not only Rahul Gandhi but many leaders in the opposition camp were seen trying to put BJP in the anti-OBC docket on the pretext of women's reservation. Opposition alliance INDIA has made a strategy to use the issue of caste census as a political weapon against BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 and got a chance to be aggressive on the issue of women's reservation in the special session of Parliament, because BJP Has not made a system of quota within the quota.

In fact, Indian politics has completely changed and now the entire politics seems to be centered around OBCs. In one visit, BJP, which was called the party of Brahmins and Banias, now came out of this tag and succeeded in making a strong hold among the OBC and Dalit communities. When BJP came to power under the leadership of Narendra Modi in 2014, the OBC community played an important role in it. In such a situation, due to non-fixing of quota for OBCs in women's reservation, the opposition has opened a front against BJP. Concerns may increase for BJP in the 2024 elections. OBC leaders like Nitish Kumar, Akhilesh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav are standing with the opposition alliance INDIA camp, in which Congress also plays an important role. In such a situation, concern may increase for BJP on the issue of OBC.

BJP's counter plan

BJP has made a complete plan to counter the OBC politics of Congress and the opposition. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has indicated this during the discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Amit Shah said that I want to say to those who sing the praises of OBC, has your party ever made an OBC the Prime Minister, but BJP has done this work. Not only this, Amit Shah has also put forth BJP's perspective regarding OBCs and said that in the existing Constitution, three categories of MPs are elected. The first is the general category, which also includes our OBCs. The second category is of SC and the third category is of ST. In these three categories, 33 percent reservation has been made for women.

The Union Home Minister said that if you want the figures then I will tell you. You are not sitting in the House to listen. Among the MPs of Bharatiya Janata Party, 85 MPs i.e. 29 percent belong to OBC category. Without taking the name of Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah said that if you want to compare then come, 29 ministers also belong to OBC category. Continuing his point, he said that out of 1358 BJP MLAs, 365 MLAs i.e. 27 percent are from the OBC community. Apart from this, 65 out of 63 MLCs of BJP also belong to OBC, which is 40 percent.

During the discussion on Women's Reservation Bill in Rajya Sabha, BJP President JP Nadda targeted Rahul Gandhi and asked him to tell how many Union Secretaries were OBC in the country between 2004 and 2014. We have more OBC MPs than Congress MPs. BJP gave the country its first OBC PM. In this way, BJP has made a strategy to counter the OBC agenda being set by the opposition parties. Let us see who gets political benefit in 2024?
