During Shraddha, prepare only satvik food at home. Do not use onion, garlic, yellow mustard oil and brinjal for preparing food in the name of ancestors. Apart from this, the milk and curd used in food should be of cow only.

Kheer is considered to have special importance in the food prepared in the name of ancestors during Shraddha rituals. On this day, you can prepare puri, potato curry, chickpea or pumpkin curry. Apart from this, include sweets in the diet of ancestors.

Don't eat food yourself until the Brahmin eats. Brahmins should be served food in bronze, silver or metal plates only. It is prohibited to use things like glass and plastic during Shraddha rituals. Along with this, feed food to the Brahmin in the south direction only.
