As soon as Jadeja took the wicket of Shamim Hossain, his name was added to an elite list along with Kapil Dev. With this one wicket, Jadeja completed 200 wickets in ODI cricket and with this he also became the seventh Indian player to achieve this feat. What sets him apart is that he is the only left-arm spinner in the history of Indian cricket to achieve this feat.
To reach the 200-wicket mark, Jadeja took just 175 ODI innings. Not only this, 34 year old Jadeja also reached the level of Kapil Dev. He became the second Indian player after Kapil Dev to take 200 wickets and score more than 2000 runs in ODI cricket. Before him, the great Kapil Dev has taken 253 wickets and 3783 runs in ODI cricket while Jadeja also now has 200 ODI wickets and 2578 ODI runs.
At the same time, before Jadeja, only 6 Indian players have been able to take 200 wickets in ODI cricket. Anil Kumble is at first place in this list with 337 ODI wickets. He is followed by Javagal Srinath with 315 wickets, Ajit Agarkar with 288 wickets, Zaheer Khan with 282 wickets, Harbhajan Singh with 269 wickets, Kapil Dev with 253 wickets and now Ravindra Jadeja with 200 wickets.
