Shardiya Navratri 2023: Shardiya Navratri, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month, is about to start. In this, by installing the Kalash, Maa Durga is worshiped for the whole 9 days. Let us know when is Navratri and when to do Ghatasthapana.

Shardiya Navratri, the biggest festival of Hindu religion, is just around the corner. Just as our mother has given birth to all of us, similarly Mother Durga has given birth to the whole world. That's why we all wait for our mother very eagerly. Shardiya Navratri has special significance in Hindu religion. The festival of Navratri comes four times every year and there are two Gupt Navratri and two Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri.

Every year Shardiya Navratri is celebrated on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. The festival of Shardiya Navratri falling in this month is celebrated with great pomp all over the world. In this holy festival, idols of Maa Durga are celebrated and they are installed in pandals. This year the festival of Navratri is starting from 15 October 2023. Let us tell you all the things in full detail.

Shardiya Navratri auspicious time

Like every year, this year too Navratri will be celebrated on Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This year Pratipada tithi time is starting from 11:24 pm on 14th October 2023 and will end on 15th October at 12:32 pm. Udaya Tithi has great importance on this day, hence the festival of Navratri will be celebrated on 15 October 2023 and Navratri will end on 23 October 2023.

When to do Ghatasthapana

Ghat Sthapana i.e. Kalash is established on the first day of Shardiya Navratri and Akhand Jyoti is lit for the entire 9 days. Ghatasthapana is done on the first day of Navratri, hence you should install the Kalash on 15th October. It is said that Kalash installation is done after seeing the auspicious time, otherwise the mother gets angry.

Ghatasthapana auspicious time

According to the Hindu calendar, the first day of Shardiya Navratri i.e. 15th October is the auspicious time for establishing the Kalash. The auspicious time of Ghatasthapana will start on October 15 at 06:30 am and will end at 08:47 am. Along with this, another auspicious time is being formed which is called Abhijeet Muhurta. Its auspicious time starts on October 15 at 11:48 am and ends at 12:36 pm.

Install the Kalash like this

On the first day of Navratri, take bath in the morning and wear clean clothes and sit at the place of worship.

Then clean the temple of your house and purify it by sprinkling Ganga water.

After this, first worship Lord Shri Ganesha and then meditate on Maa Durga and light the eternal flame.

Then, for setting up the Kalash, take an earthen vessel and put soil in it and sow barley seeds.

On the other hand, make a Swastika with Roli on a copper pot and tie Mauli on the pot.

After this, fill water in the pot and add Ganga water in it.

Then put 1.25 rupees, doob, betel nut, perfume and Akshat in that pot and put five mango leaves in the pot.

After this, take a coconut and wrap it in a red cloth and tie it with a mauli.

Now place that coconut on the Kalash.

After this, keep the Kalash in the middle of an earthen vessel containing barley.

Along with this, resolve to observe nine fasts of Navratri and recite Durga Chalisa.

Every day during Navratri, wake up early in the morning and take bath, then purify the place of worship by sprinkling Ganga water and lighting the lamp.

After this, anoint Maa Durga with Ganga water and offer Akshat, vermilion and red flowers to Maa Durga.

Prepare fruits and sweets and offer them to the Mother Goddess as Prasad.

Mata Rani should recite Durga Chalisa by lighting a lamp and at the end perform the Aarti of Maa Durga.

Worship Maa Shailputri on 15 October 2023 i.e. Pratipada Tithi.

Worship of Maa Brahmacharini on 16 October 2023 i.e. Dwitiya Tithi.

Worship Maa Chandraghanta on 17th October 2023 i.e. Tritiya Tithi.

Worship Goddess Kushmanda on 18th October 2023 i.e. Chaturthi Tithi.

Worship Mother Skandamata on 19th October 2023 i.e. Panchami Tithi.

Worship Maa Katyayani on 20th October 2023 i.e. Shashthi Tithi.

Worship Maa Kalratri on 21st October 2023 i.e. Saptami Tithi.

Worship Maa Mahagauri on 22nd October 2023 i.e. Durga Ashtami.

23 October 2023 i.e. the day of Mahanavami. Break the fast on this day.

24 October 2023 i.e. the day of Vijayadashami. On this day the idol of Maa Durga is immersed.
