Shubman Gill created history by scoring a century, created a series of records

 


Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill has been performing consistently well in 2023. He showed a glimpse of this in Asia Cup 2023. He scored the 5th century of his ODI career in the match against Bangladesh in Super 4. He scored his century in 117 balls. Gill played a century of 121 runs in 133 balls with the help of 8 fours and 5 sixes against Bangladesh. With this century he showed that he is in tremendous form this year. During his century innings, he also made some records in his name. He has completed the figure of 1000 runs in ODI this year. 

Right-handed batsman Gill has become the first player to score 1,500+ international runs in 2023. Apart from this, he has also emerged as the player to score 5 centuries in ODI in 2023. Gill has also touched the mark of 1000 runs in ODIs this year during his century against Bangladesh. Apart from Gill, no other batsman has been able to cross the 1000 mark.

In 2020, 2021 and 2022, no batsman was able to score 1000 runs in ODIs. Earlier this had happened in 1982. Whereas in 2023, Gill has crossed the mark of 1000 runs in ODI. Apart from him, no other batsman has yet touched the figure of 1000 runs in ODIs. He became the 13th Indian to achieve this feat. Apart from this, in the year 2023, Gill has scored 6 centuries in international cricket. In this matter, he has left behind Virat Kohli who has scored 5 centuries in international cricket this year. 

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 265 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs. Captain Shakib Al Hasan scored the maximum 80 (85) runs for the team. In this innings he hit 6 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from him, Tauheed Hridoy played a half-century inning of 54 runs in 81 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. Shardul Thakur took maximum 3 wickets for India.
