Shubman Gill is on the threshold of making a world record, will have to score 83 runs in the third ODI against Australia.

India's opening batsman Shubman Gill will have a chance to make a world record in the third and last ODI against Australia on Wednesday (September 27) at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. If Gill scores 83 runs in this match, he will make the record of scoring the fastest 2000 runs in ODI.

Gill, who debuted in 2019, has scored 1917 runs in 35 innings at an average of 66.10, in which he has scored 6 centuries and 9 half-centuries.

The record of scoring the fastest 2000 runs in ODI is currently in the name of South Africa's Hashim Amla. Amla had achieved this figure in 40 innings. Shikhar Dhawan has done this feat fastest for India, he played 48 innings for this.

Let us tell you that Gill's performance in 2023 has been excellent. This year, in 20 innings he has scored a total of 1230 runs at an average of 72.35. Which includes 5 centuries and 5 half-centuries. Gill's bat has also spoken strongly in this ongoing series against Australia. In the first two matches, Gill has scored a total of 178 runs on the basis of one century and one half-century innings. Earlier, Gill had also been on top in terms of scoring most runs in the Asia Cup.

Can break Sachin Tendulkar's record

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring the most runs in a year in One Day Internationals. Tendulkar had scored 1894 runs in 33 innings in the year 1998 at an average of 65.31. With the form Gill is in, he will have a chance to break this great record of Tendulkar in the upcoming World Cup.
