In Dhupguri, West Bengal, a girl is not able to get admission in school because she does not have a birth certificate. Actually, the girl was her father's third child; when she became the third daughter, the father had burnt her birth certificate.

She wants to study, she has a dream of becoming something, but due to one mistake of her father, her dream of studying is not coming true. This story is about a little girl Riya, whose father became the biggest obstacle in her studies. The father, who wanted a son, burnt the birth certificate of his third daughter, due to which the girl is now unable to get admission in any school.

Shobha, who lived in the bus terminal of Dhupguri, West Bengal, was married to a man named Dulal Das. Shobha already had two daughters. For the third time her husband wanted a son, but for the third time also Shobha gave birth to daughter Riya. Angered by the birth of a third daughter, the husband burnt her birth certificate while under the influence of alcohol. After the girl was 6 months old, her father Dulal Das died due to illness.

Lack of birth certificate becomes a hindrance in studies

Dulal Das left this world but now his daughter Riya is suffering the consequences of his mistake. Riya wants to go to school like her elder sister. His sister studies in fifth class in BFP School, Dhupguri. But due to lack of birth certificate, Riya is not able to get admission in school. When her sister goes to school, Riya tries to study on her own by sitting in a roadside tea stall with a copy and pencil in her hand.

Girl studies in roadside shop

The shopkeeper gave books to Riya to read. The eyes of the people coming to the shop often fall on Riya. Seeing Riya's passion for studies, the people sitting in the shop help her in her studies and teach her. Kajal is also one of them. Kajal is a teacher by profession. She told that she often saw the girl studying in the tea shop, she felt very bad seeing the girl. So he bought books and pencils for Riya and gave them to her.

Mother does not remember the date of birth of the child

Shobha told that she does not remember the date of her daughter's birth but she remembers that Riya was born in the month of Ashadha. Shobha went to many places to get the girl admitted in school but no solution to her problem was found. All the schools are asking for the birth certificate of the daughter. Riya's elder sister Reema told that her sister wanted to go to school but the school teacher kicked her out.

When school principal Jayant Majumdar was talked to on this matter, he said that he had no knowledge of this matter. There is no rule that one can be stopped from studying for not having a birth certificate. He said that at present the date of admission in school is over but the girl can come to school and study. Along with this, he said that he will talk to the school officials about this matter.
