The Vaccine War Review: How much truth and how much deception? How is Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Vaccine War'?

Vivek Agnihotri's film 'The Vaccine War' has been released in theaters today i.e. on 28th September. If you want to watch this film of Nana Patekar and Pallavi Joshi this weekend, then you must read the review of this film before booking the ticket.

Before releasing 'The Vaccine War' in India, Vivek Agnihotri and his team organized special shows of the film in America. This film was shown to many people living there and in the video shared by them, everyone became emotional after watching this film. Along with the domestic audience, many foreign audiences also gave green signal to this film and believed that 'India can do it'. After watching all these videos, the curiosity to watch 'The Vaccine War' had increased further. Generally, like the army of our country, we also respect our scientists, but after this film, the respect for them has increased even more.

In this era of masala films full of action, romance and thriller, director Vivek Agnihotri tries to show us a true story with 'The Vaccine War'. This is a film which tells the story of the hard work and sacrifice of the real heroes of the country. In the film, an honest attempt has been made to show what difficulties the biomedical scientists who made the Corona vaccine had to face in order to ensure that our country stood firm in the storm of Corona, but still there was discussion and analysis in this film. Both seem incomplete.

Story

The story of 'The Vaccine War' starts with the lockdown. Where no one is visible on the roads except policemen. On January 1, 2020, while on one hand the entire country was celebrating the New Year, on the other hand ICMR Chief Balram Bhargava (Nana Patekar) was completely sleepless. The reason was that the first patient of Corona virus was found in Wuhan, China. Even before this virus came to India, ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) had started preparations to stop it. From the beginning of this war against the virus to the inspiring journey of making India's own 'Covaxin', it has been narrated in 12 chapters.

It is shown in the film that when Balram Bhargava was struggling to make a vaccine with 70 percent superhero women scientists like Dr. Priya Abraham, Dr. Nivedita, and was trying to make his country self-reliant, then some people were against this mission. I was posting many things on social media. Through these posts it was being shown that 'India will not be able to make the vaccine. But in this film, Nana Patekar in the role of ICMR Chief Balram Bhargava proved with his India Can Do It dialogue that if the people of India decide to do something, they can definitely do it.

Know how this film is

'The Vaccine War' is a good film, but its first half is very boring. While talking about how the media and celebrities opposed the co-vaccine, the makers have completely forgotten that except a few media houses, all the media and along with them, from Priyanka Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan to Kangana Ranaut, Many stars had also praised the country's vaccination drive. This is the reason why this story seems 'half true'.

Directing and Writing

There were a lot of expectations from Vivek Agnihotri after making a film like 'The Kashmir Files'. During the promotion of this film, the director had claimed that this entire story is based on true events. But the plot of the story does not match the reality at many places. Be it the 'maid' who gives her information about what is happening in Italy to reporter ma'am, or the reporter (Raima Sen) who sells photos of the Corona epidemic to international media sitting at home instead of going to an agency.

The story of the creation of 'Covaxin' is inspiring, but the story of the opposition to it does not impress much. This is the reason why despite excellent acting and a good story, it cannot be enjoyed completely.

acting

Nana Patekar has played the role of ICMR Chief Balram Bhargava with great intensity without even seeing him . In this film, Nana has become such a chief who never talks lovingly to the people around him nor does he praise their work.

In the film, Pallavi Joshi is playing the role of virologist Priya Abraham, director of the National Institute of Virology (NIV). His character is very strong and some of his dialogues are excellent. If we don't set fire to the tail of the rocket and send it into the sky, you won't even know what we have done. There is applause in the theater on this dialogue. Girja Oak and Saptami Gowda have also acted well in the film.

Editing and Music

Better work could have been done on this film on the editing table. The editing of 'The Kashmir File' was quite crisp, but 'The Vaccine War' bores. The background music of the film is amazing, which directly touches the heart. The cinematography of the film could have been better.

to see or not to see

To know the inspiring journey of making our country's first vaccine, you can definitely watch 'The Vaccine War'. But this cannot be considered a true story. While praising Covaxin, the mention of Covishield has been limited to just one line. This film shows you one side of the coin, it does not show you that the media which were being targeted in the film, honored everyone from doctors to scientists with the title of 'Corona Warriors'. If you are not interested in knowing half the truth, then you can skip this film.
