There is a lump in the body and there is no pain... yet it could be cancer! Know what health experts say?

According to health experts, if there are lumps in the neck, armpit, or waist without any pain, then these can be symptoms of lymph cancer.

According to health experts of King George's Medical University (KGMU), if there are lumps in the neck, armpit, or waist without any pain, then these can be symptoms of lymph cancer. Doctors said that there is a network of lymphatic blood circulation and nodes that helps fight infection and disease. Lymph nodes are small bean-sized lumps of tissue found throughout the body. When the body is fighting an infection, the lymph nodes become swollen. However, if the lymph nodes are swollen but there is no pain, then it could be a sign of cancer.

Professor AK Tripathi, former head of the Hematology Department at KGMU , said that out of the 20-25 patients coming to KGMU, about 90 percent are those who reach the hospital after this lymphatic cancer has reached the advanced stage. He further said that the initial signs of this cancer are that by the time people go to the doctor, patients experience difficulty in breathing and weight loss without any reason.

The most surprising thing is that there are some patients who think that they have TB and even after getting it treated, they come back but do not get relief. He advised them to seek a second opinion from a specialist if they are not improving. He also mentioned that new treatments such as gene editing, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) could help in the management of the disease. ADCs are designed to specifically target cancer cells while sparing healthy cells, and ICIs work by removing the "brakes" that prevent the immune system from recognizing and attacking cancer cells, experts said. Doctors further said that gene editing could potentially allow doctors to correct the genetic abnormalities responsible for lymphoma, leading to more effective treatments and improved patient outcomes.
