Recently a child died of rabies in Ghaziabad. This child was bitten by a dog a few days ago, but this information was not given to anyone. Because of this, the anti-rabies vaccine could not be administered and the child died of rabies infection a few days later. According to the World Health Organization, rabies is a 4500-year-old disease, but till date there is no cure for it. That is, if someone gets rabies disease, then that patient cannot be treated. If the infection of rabies goes to the brain, then the patient dies. Symptoms of this disease can appear after a few months or even after years. After the symptoms emerge, the patient's condition worsens and later death occurs.
95 percent of rabies cases are caused by dog bites. In many cases, people resort to home remedies after dog bites. But the virus of this disease cannot be eliminated by any kind of home remedy. Only anti-rabies vaccine is effective in protecting against this disease. Doctors say that if a person has been bitten by a dog and has sustained a wound, he should get vaccinated as soon as possible. Try to get the vaccine within 24 hours. It is not right to delay more than this.
What to do first when dog bite
Dr. NR Rawat at Rajasthan Animal Sciences University explains that when a dog bites, first check whether there is a wound or not. If there is no wound then there is nothing to worry about. But if there is a wound, first of all wash it. During this period, do not resort to any home remedy and consult a doctor immediately. Even if there is a slight scratch or wound after a dog bite, it is still necessary to take anti-rabies vaccine. This is because the rabies virus is in the dog's saliva. If this saliva comes in contact with blood from a person's skin, there is a risk of rabies infection.
Is there danger from pet dog too?
If a pet dog has not been vaccinated against rabies, then it can also cause rabies infection to humans. In such a situation, do not do any kind of negligence. Get vaccinated even if bitten by a pet dog
