In the Super 4 of Asia Cup 2023, India reached the final by defeating Sri Lanka by 41 runs with the help of excellent performance by the bowlers. Dunith Vellalage gave a brilliant all-round performance for Sri Lanka but failed to lead the team to victory. He stayed till the end. In this match, India won the toss and decided to bat first. With this victory, India put a break on Sri Lanka's 13 consecutive ODI wins. 

Batting first, the entire Indian team collapsed on the score of 213 in 49.1 overs. For India, the maximum runs came from the bat of captain Rohit Sharma. He played a half-century inning of 53 runs with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes in 48 balls. This is his third consecutive half-century. Apart from them, KL Rahul scored 39(44) and Ishan Kishan scored 33(61). In the end, Akshar Patel contributed 26(36) runs. Dunith Vellalage took maximum 5 wickets for Sri Lanka. This is Wellalage's first 5 wicket haul. Part time bowler Charit Aslanka was successful in taking 4 wickets. Mahish Tikshna got one wicket. 

Chasing the target, the Sri Lankan team collapsed to 172 in 41.3 overs. Dunith Vellalage scored the most runs for Sri Lanka. He played an inning of 42* runs in 46 balls with the help of 3 fours and one six. Dhananjay de Silva scored 41 runs in 66 balls with the help of 5 fours. Vellalaghe and Silva made an excellent partnership of 63 (75) runs. Kuldeep Yadav took maximum 4 wickets for India. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja got 2-2 wickets. Mohammad Siraj and Hardik Pandya were successful in taking one wicket each.
