The fighters of Wagner Army, who have made their mark in the Russia-Ukraine war, are now going to get the biggest duty. Wagner's experienced fighters will be deployed to protect Russian President Vladimir Putin. Responsibility for external security within President Putin's enclave rests with the Russian National Guard, known as Rosgvardiya. Wagner's special fighters are being recruited in the Russian National Guard. These fighters of Wagner have achieved victory on dangerous fronts like Bakhmut during the war.
What is Rosgvardiya i.e. Russian National Guard?
The Russian National Guard—Rosgvardiya—reports directly to Russian President Putin. Its headquarters is in Moscow. It was made in 2016 on the orders of President Putin. Russia's Defense Ministry or Army has no interference in the functioning of Rosgvardiya. There are about 3,40,000 people in this armed force. In addition to internal security, the Russian National Guard is responsible for the external security of President Putin. After the rebellion of the Wagner Army on June 24, the Russian National Guard had decided to include tanks and other heavy weapons in its weapons fleet.
How is President Putin's security?
It is said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been provided the maximum security in the world. There are many layers in their security. The responsibility of personal security of President Putin lies with his most special and trusted bodyguards. After that, there is Presidential Security Service (SBP) for the security of the President, which works on the lines of SPG engaged in the security of the Prime Minister of India. There are total 2400 people in it. The security after this is the responsibility of various units of the Federal Protective Service (FSO). The headquarters of FSO is in the Kremlin. Fifty thousand people work in it.
President's nuclear suitcase remains with FSO
The President's nuclear suitcase i.e. black box remains with the FSO. It can interrogate and arrest anyone without any warrant. Can give instructions to any agency. The most skilled security personnel of FSO are sent to the Presidential Security Service (SBP). Putin's outer circle of security consists of the Russian National Guard, which works in coordination with the Russian intelligence agency FSB. Apart from this, local police or other security agencies are deployed as per the need and location.
Wagner Army is being given a new look
Many changes are taking place in Wanger's Army, known as Putin's private army. After Wagner's June 24 rebellion, the legal existence of all types of private armies in Russia has been abolished. Putin had appealed to Wagner fighters to either join the Russian army or return to their homes. A large number of Wagner fighters have shifted to Belarus. Since Wagner Chief Evgeny Prigozhin was killed in a plane crash on August 23, questions are being raised about the future of the Wagner Army. However, the Russian government has made it clear that Wagner Army will continue its operations in Africa as before.
