Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan had built a private university in Rampur in 2006, named Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. When the foundation of this university was laid, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan seems to be embroiled in another controversy amid the Income Tax raid at his house. In fact, BJP MLA from Rampur Akash Saxena has demanded an investigation into the money received from MP and MLA funds by Maulana Ali Johar University. Many MLAs and MPs of Samajwadi Party have provided financial help to the university. The names of former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan's wife Tanzin Fatima are also included in this list. When Samajwadi Party was in government in UP, many MLAs gave money for the university from MLA fund. Some MLAs have given money not once or twice but four times.

Let us tell you that senior leader of Samajwadi Party, Azam Khan has built a private university in Rampur, whose name is Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. When the foundation of this university was laid in the year 2006, Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of UP. Azam Khan is the founder of this university and also the lifetime chancellor. Regarding this Ali Johar University, Azam Khan has been accused of everything from grabbing the land of Dalits to misusing government money.

BJP MLA from Rampur Akash Saxena claims that Samajwadi Party MLAs gave money to Ali Johar University while breaking the rules and regulations. There are some rules for providing financial help from MLA and MP funds. It says that if any member of the family is associated with an organization then money cannot be given to that organization. In the case of Azam Khan University, funds have been given as per the rules. Azam's wife Tanzin Fatima was a Rajya Sabha MP from the Samajwadi Party, yet he gave money to the university in three installments from his MPLAD fund. First he gave Rs 12 lakh 39 thousand, later he gave Rs 5 lakh each in two installments.

What does the rule of MLA fund say?

The rules of MLA fund say that not more than Rs 25 lakh can be given at one time. But Azam Khan's close MLC Sarojini Aggarwal sent a proposal to give Rs 45 lakh from the MLA fund at once. It has been a tradition that several public representatives should not give financial grants to the same institution. But the matter was about Azam Khan and his political power, that is why everyone gave him funds from their quota. 24 MLAs and one MP of Samajwadi Party gave money for Maulana Ali Johar University.

Which MLA gave how much fund

Overall, Rs 4 crore 67 lakh was given to the university from MP and MLA funds. Akhilesh Yadav gave Rs 20 lakh, Rajendra Chaudhary gave Rs 20 lakh, Ambika Chaudhary gave Rs 15 lakh, Balram Yadav gave Rs 15 lakh and Ashok Vajpayee gave Rs 25 lakh. Names of many more MLAs are included in this list.
