What was the question that gave India its first Nobel Prize in Physics?

The Nobel Prizes will be announced next week from October 2. This prestigious award is given for works that benefit human life across the world, its winners are announced in six categories. The first person from India to win this prestigious award was Rabindranath Tagore. However, India's first Nobel Prize in the field of Physics was given to Dr. CV Raman for the Raman effect.

The schedule of the Nobel Prize has been released, this prestigious award to be given in various fields will be announced from October 2 next week. This award is given in the categories of Medicine, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Economics and Physics, like all the countries of the world, India is also waiting whether its name will be in the list of these awards or not.

The Nobel Prize is given to those people who have benefited mankind through their research or service. This award is given on the basis of the will of Alfred Nobel, it consists of a gold medal, 10 million Swedish krona and a certificate.

India has received many Nobel Prizes

India has received many Nobel Prizes till now, but the feat of winning this award for the first time was done by Rabindra Nath Tagore. In 1913 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. The works of Bengali language litterateur Rabindranath were read and appreciated by people all over the world. However, the work of getting India's first Nobel in Science was done by Dr. CV Raman. Dr. Raman was honored for his discovery of the Raman effect in the field of physics in 1930.

What was that question?

CV Raman discovered the Raman effect in the ocean area. He had discovered why the ocean looks blue. Dr. Raman made this discovery during the return journey from London to Bombay. Before his discovery, it was believed that the blue color of the sea was a reflection of the sky, this explanation was given by Lord Rayleigh.

How was the research done?

Dr. Raman started a research journey to find out why the sea is blue. He told the world that the blue color of the ocean comes due to the scattering of sunlight on water molecules. When sunlight encounters particles smaller than its wavelength, it scatters in different directions. This research is known as Raman effect in the world. For this discovery, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded Dr. Raman the Nobel Prize on 10 December 1930, praising his important contribution in the field of physics.
