The Central Government has introduced women's reservation in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. According to the bill, there is talk of giving 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The bill is yet to be passed by the Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha.
The Modi government at the Center has introduced the Women's Reservation Bill on Tuesday, the second day of the special session of Parliament. This bill is being considered a big step for women empowerment. This bill is to be discussed in the Lok Sabha today, after which it will be voted on and after passing it will be presented in the Rajya Sabha. The bill introduced in the Lok Sabha once again recreated the scene that was seen in 2010.
The Women's Reservation Bill was tabled in Parliament by Law Minister Arjun Meghwal. PM Modi has named this bill as Nari Shakti Vandan Act. This bill still has to go through many tests to be passed. After the presentation of the bill, smiles were visible on the faces of some women MPs. The smiles of the women MPs brought back 13 years old memories which are related to the Women's Reservation Bill, but the rest of the picture looked completely different.
In fact, in 2010, the then UPA government had also brought the Women's Reservation Bill. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister then. Instead of presenting this bill in the Lok Sabha, the government first presented this bill in the Rajya Sabha. After the introduction of the bill, Samajwadi Party and RJD had threatened to break ties with UPA. In view of this, voting on the bill had to be postponed. After this, this bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on 9 March 2010.
Sushma Swaraj and other members were seen showing the victory sign.
After the bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, such a style of women MPs was seen outside the Parliament House which is still in the minds of the people. The joy of women MPs also included late Sushma Swaraj, who was the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha. Along with him, CPIM MP Vrinda Karat and Congress Party MP Najma Heptulla were also seen expressing happiness by showing victory sign in front of the media.
The bill was stuck in the Lok Sabha
Now that picture, about 13 years old, has again started floating before people's eyes. In the picture, other women MPs are also seen behind Sushma Swaraj, Vrinda Karat and Najma. Everyone's faces are seen blooming with happiness. However, these happy faces turned to disappointment when the bill could not be passed by the Lok Sabha. Now the Women's Reservation Bill has once again been introduced in the Parliament.
How is the picture completely different this time?
When the Women's Reservation Bill was presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the picture looked completely different this time compared to 2010. After the introduction of the bill, except a few women MPs, no one was seen in the group and no photo of the group has been revealed yet.
