Where is the cheapest liquor available in these 8 states of the country, here is the complete list

If someone can tell the liquor lovers where it is available at the cheapest price. So he can go any distance. Liquor is taxed differently in every state of the country, hence their prices vary. Let us tell you where the cheapest and most expensive liquor is available.

Liquor has different rates in every state of the country. The reason for this is the different taxes imposed on liquor there. Therefore, a liquor bottle which is priced at Rs 100 in one state may cost more than Rs 500 in another state. Do you know where the cheapest liquor is available in the country? Let us tell you…

There is a perception among the people that the cheapest liquor is available in Delhi-Haryana. So, for alcohol lovers, Goa is also no less than a paradise. If the cheapest liquor is available in these states, then very few people will know in which states the expensive liquor is available. To find out this, the 'International Spirits and Wines Association of India' has conducted a study.

49% tax is levied on liquor in Goa

In Goa, 49% tax is levied on the MRP of liquor. It may seem like a lot to you, but actually it is one of those states in the country where the tax on liquor is lowest. Therefore, Goa is not only a paradise for tourists but is also a paradise for alcohol drinkers. Due to low taxes compared to nearby states, many people go to Goa just to fulfill their passion for alcohol.

Haryana levies less tax on liquor than Goa. The tax rate on liquor here is only 47 percent, whereas in the country's capital Delhi, liquor is taxed at 62 percent.

The most expensive liquor is available in Karnataka

The state of Karnataka probably imposes the highest tax on liquor in the country. Here the tax rate on MRP is 83%. This means that a bottle of liquor which is available at an MRP of Rs 100 in Goa, can be available for more than Rs 500 in Karnataka. Whereas in Delhi the price of the same bottle can be Rs 134 and in Haryana it can be Rs 147.

Even in Maharashtra, there is 71 percent tax in the MRP of liquor. That means a bottle of liquor available for Rs 100 in Goa will cost Rs 226 in Maharashtra, and it will cost Rs 246 in Telangana, because there is a tax of 68 percent on MRP there.

If any liquor in Goa is priced at Rs 100 then its price in these 8 states will be as follows…

Goa – Rs 100

Delhi – Rs 134

Haryana – Rs 147

Uttar Pradesh – Rs 197

Rajasthan – Rs 213

Maharashtra – Rs 226

Telangana – Rs 246

Karnataka – Rs 513

For example, if a bottle of Black Label is available for Rs 3100 in Delhi, the same bottle costs Rs 4000 in Mumbai. Therefore, a lot of liquor is smuggled from one state to another. At present, alcohol and petroleum have been kept out of the scope of GST. Therefore, different taxes are levied on them according to the states.
