BCCI has decided that there cannot be two selectors from the same region and that is why Salil Ankol may be removed from the selection committee. Former India and Mumbai captain Ajit Agarkar was chosen by the Indian Board as the new chairman of the selection committee a few months ago and since both Salil Ankola and Ajit Agarkar are from the West Zone, Salil Ankola can leave his post.
According to the Indian Express, the former player's tenure as senior selector will not be extended after his tenure ends. Currently, the selectors were given a one-year contract by the Indian board and they will have to reapply in December this year. Ajit Agarkar, SS Das, Subroto Banerjee, S Sharath and Salil Ankola are included in the current selection committee.
Along with this, news is also coming out that BCCI will organize its 92nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25th September. Mumbai hosted the last BCCI AGM on October 18, 2022. In such a situation, it is possible that during the Annual General Body meeting to be held in Goa, approval will be obtained from the House to invite applications after the end of the term.
