Women will become MPs from reserved seats in 2029, Nadda's big claim in Parliament

Women Reservation Bill: During the discussion on Women Reservation Bill in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda said that reserved women will become MPs in 2029. Apart from this, he also hit back at Rahul Gandhi's OBC statement and said that BJP gave the first OBC Prime Minister to the country.

Women Reservation Bill: After the Women's Reservation Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha, questions were being raised as to when this bill will be implemented. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or in the 2029 elections. During the discussion on this bill in Rajya Sabha, in response to this question, BJP National President JP Nadda said that reserved women will become MPs in 2029.

He said that it is being said that this bill should be implemented from now on. I want to make it clear that there are some constitutional arrangements, there are some constitutional ways of doing work. We have to give reservation to women, but the decision on which seats should be given and which should not be given cannot be decided by the government but by a semi-judicial body.

He said that two things are important for this. First census and second delimitation. After this, there should be a public hearing, then seats and numbers should be determined and then it should be taken forward. If you pass this bill today, then in 2029 reserved women will become MPs.

Nadda's counterattack on Rahul's OBC statement

At the same time, on Rahul Gandhi's statement about OBCs, Nadda said that BJP gave the first OBC Prime Minister to the country. We have more OBC MPs than Congress MPs. Today 27 ministers are from OBC. Out of 303 MPs, 29 percent are OBC. This is just the figure of Lok Sabha.

What did Rahul Gandhi say in Lok Sabha?

Let us tell you that during the discussion on Women's Reservation Bill, Rahul Gandhi had raised the question of OBC's participation in various institutions. He had said that there should be a quota for OBC (Other Backward Classes) in the Women's Reservation Bill. Out of 90 secretaries of India, only three belong to the OBC community.

Apart from this, he had talked about implementing caste census and delimitation as soon as possible. Let us tell you that this bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. There were 454 votes in favor of this bill and 2 votes against it.
