2000 Rupee Note: RBI's big statement on 2000 rupee notes, only 2 days are left for exchange

You have only 2 days left to exchange Rs 2000 notes. If you are not able to exchange the notes by October 7, then these notes will become just a piece of paper. Let us know where you can exchange these notes.

If you still have Rs 2000 notes lying around, get them exchanged soon. Actually, RBI had extended the deadline of these notes till 7 October. In such a situation, only 2 days are left for the deadline to end. According to RBI, if you miss the exchange of notes even on this deadline, then these notes will remain just a piece of paper. Let us tell you, the last date for exchanging notes or depositing them in the bank was earlier 30 September, which was extended by RBI to 7 October. This decision of the Reserve Bank has brought great relief to those who have not been able to exchange their notes yet. However, you do not have to go to the bank to exchange these notes. Let us tell you where these notes will be exchanged…

RBI gave another chance

Actually, earlier the deadline was ending on 30th September. After which people were speculating that RBI will extend the deadline and there were also repeated demands from NRIs i.e. Indian citizens living abroad to extend the deadline. The big step of the Reserve Bank has brought great relief to those people who due to some reason were neither able to deposit nor exchange Rs 2000 notes in banks.

Notes will be changed only here

However, now the Reserve Bank has made a change. Till now people were going to the bank branch to exchange their notes, but now this system is not going to continue. Now Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged only in 19 issue offices of RBI. People can also deposit Rs 2000 notes in their accounts in these 19 offices of the Reserve Bank. At the same time, the limit on exchangeable notes is still going to remain intact. This means that a maximum of Rs 20,000 worth of notes can be exchanged at one time. Meaning you can exchange only 10 notes of Rs 2000 at a time.
