Rajya Sabha MP from Aam Aadmi Party Raghav Chadha has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging his suspension. Raghav Chadha was suspended during the discussion on Delhi Services Bill during the monsoon session of Parliament. The Privilege Committee of Parliament is investigating the allegations against Raghav Chadha.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was also suspended from Rajya Sabha. Sanjay Singh's suspension has been extended further. During the session, five MPs had claimed that their names were mentioned in the proposal to send the Delhi Services Bill to the Select Committee without their consent.
This proposal was presented by Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha. The MPs opposing the name on the proposal include three BJP MPs, one BJD MP and one AIADMK MP. When this matter came up in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had demanded an investigation into it.
Raghav had raised questions on the decision of suspension
After being suspended from Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha had fiercely attacked BJP. He had said that his only mistake was that he had stood up in the House and asked questions to the leaders of the country's largest party, BJP. He had said whether it is a crime to ask questions on Delhi Service Bill?
'The opposition is not allowed to speak in the House'
Raghav Chadha had alleged that the opposition was not allowed to speak in the House. When the opposition leader rose to speak in the House, his mike was switched off. He said that I will present my views before the Privileges Committee. This is not the first time that action has been taken against opposition leaders.
