During the World Cup, Gautam Adani has given a big blow to the airlines companies. Gautam Adani has increased the user charges for charter flights at Ahmedabad Airport. This increase is also not less. Adani has increased it by up to 10 times. Apart from the league matches of the World Cup, the final match will also be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Recently the match between India and Pakistan was also played here. The final match will also be held on this ground. In such a situation, Adani does not want to leave any stone unturned to capitalize on this opportunity. Actually, Ahmedabad airport is with Gautam Adani. In this matter, many airline companies have complained to the Central Government and have also asked for intervention in this matter.
Airline companies accuse Adani Group
On behalf of the airlines, Adani Group has been accused that Ahmedabad Airport has increased the ground handling charges by more than 10 times. After which a notice was also issued late on Friday evening by the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority, the government agency that decides airport rates. According to the authority, imposing any charge without their permission is illegal. It was also said by the government agency that airport operators are charging without permission, which is not right. However, no statement has come from Adani spokespersons in this regard. The authority said that some airport operators are imposing charges without taking approval, which is not right. All airport operators should avoid imposing such charges. Adani Airports spokesperson did not respond to questions.
Airport management summoned
However, the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority has summoned the top management of the airport and asked them to appear on Monday. According to Ahmedabad Airport's tariff list released in September, the general aviation charge on charter flights with more than 15 passengers is a minimum of Rs 265,000. In such a situation, only Rs 17,667 will be charged on each passenger. Also, the airport has charged Rs 6,000 more per passenger on special flights operated during IPL matches. These charges are other than landing and parking charges. Besides, airline companies have also been told that if information about any flight in a particular season is not given then it will be considered as charter.
Airline companies will suffer loss
In the media report, quoting sources, it has been said that Indigo, SpiceJet and Vistara had given bids to BCCI to transport cricket teams on the basis of old rates. According to the companies, increasing the charges of Ahmedabad Airport in this way will cause huge loss to the companies. The reason for this is that BCCI has refused to pay extra charges. Airline companies are also running special charter flights to bring cricket lovers from all over the world. More than 170 charter flights took off from Ahmedabad Airport in October, which is 4 times more than normal.
There is a need to take permission from the agency
Giving information in the media report, a senior officer of Adani Airports said that these additional charges do not come under aeronautical charges. For this reason there is no need to take permission from anyone on this. He also stressed that the company is reviewing the increased rates. An official from the government side clarified that the charge has been imposed for ground handling services which is very important in aircraft operations. The rules are clear and whatever services the airport provides for aircraft operations come under aeronautical services. Which comes under the government agency.
