In the fourth match of the World Cup 2023, South Africa, batting first against Sri Lanka, scored a huge score of 428 runs after losing 5 wickets in 50 overs. Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock played important roles in taking the African team to this score. These three players scored centuries and put their team in the driving seat.
Especially Aiden Markram created a stir by scoring a century in just 49 balls. This century scored by Markram is also the fastest century in World Cup history. Playing at number five, Markram scored a blistering century in 49 balls, surpassing Ireland batsman Kevin O'Brien's century of 50 balls in the 2011 edition and has now become the player to score the fastest century in the World Cup.
Markram scored 106 runs facing 54 balls in his innings. During his explosive innings, fans also got to see 14 fours and 3 skyscraper sixes. It was Markram's innings due to which the African team was able to cross 400, otherwise it was possible that the score would have stopped around 350. Rassie van der Dussen scored the most runs for South Africa.
He scored a century of 108 runs in 110 balls with the help of 13 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Quinton de Kock scored the full 100 runs before getting out. Now Sri Lanka has a huge score of 429 runs to win, so it will be interesting to see whether the Lankan batsmen are able to show fighting spirit in front of the African bowlers or the African team achieves an easy victory.
