The political heat of Lok Sabha elections is continuously increasing. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is busy in creating new social engineering through his PDA formula i.e. backward, Dalit and minority. Samajwadi Backward Class Cell has called a big meeting of representatives of Kashyap-Mallah-Bind-Nishad community in Lucknow, under which along with brainstorming on their issues, the strategy to give a political edge to the issue of caste census will be discussed.
Kashyap-Mallah-Bind-Nishad communities belong to the extremely backward class of OBC, who are currently strongly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whom Akhilesh Yadav is trying to woo. State President of Backward Class Cell of SP, Rajpal Kashyap, while talking to said that a meeting of Nishad, Mallah, Kevat, Bind and Kashyap community has been called in the party office, in which Akhilesh Yadav will attend as the chief guest. This meeting is being held on the issue of social justice and the strategy for conducting caste census.
Keeping an eye on different castes of OBC
In view of the Lok Sabha elections, SP has intensified its efforts to woo different OBC castes, for which it has started holding meetings in a hurried manner. Nishad, Mallah, Kevat, Bind and Kashyap communities form the largest number of extremely backward classes among OBCs. These are 5 to 6 percent votes in the state, which have the power to make or break the game of any party. Nishad voters play an important role in Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Allahabad, Jaunpur, Fatehpur, Saharanpur and Hamirpur districts of UP.
Among the parties doing caste based politics in Uttar Pradesh, there is also a Nishad Party, which mainly claims to represent about 17 castes like Nishad, Kevat, Bind, Mallah, Noniya, Manjhi, Gond. Due to the alliance of Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad with BJP in the 2022 UP Assembly elections, BJP became the choice of a large number of people of Nishad community. This was the reason why SP's seats increased in the state, but it could not return to power.
Can repeat old demand again
Seeing the political equation and political power of Nishad votes, Akhilesh Yadav has started trying to win the hearts of Nishad community before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, under which representatives of Nishad, Mallah, Kevat, Bind and Kashyap communities will be organized in Lucknow. are meeting. It is believed that Akhilesh Yadav can raise the demand of giving Scheduled Caste status to Nishad-Kashyap-Bind-Mallah community in this meeting, because this is a very old demand of this community. Sanjay Nishad was also successful in strengthening the political base among his community on this issue, but could not complete it even after joining BJP. In such a situation, now SP has made a strategy to give this edge.
Let us tell you that in the year 2004-2005, Mulayam Singh Yadav's government had sent a proposal to the Center to include Mallah-Nishad-Kevat-Bing caste from OBC to SC. The then UPA government did not approve it and later the Allahabad High Court also rejected the order of the state government. After this, in the year 2016, Akhilesh Yadav also made a similar attempt but the Center again did not provide any help in this matter. In such a situation, this demand of his is incomplete, which Akhilesh Yadav can now take steps to sharpen again.
