Assembly elections of five states will be announced today. The Election Commission has called a press conference today at 12 o'clock. Assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. The assembly elections of five states including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are being considered as the semi-finals of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to be held next year. Congress is in power in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan while BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh. There is a regional party government like BRS in Telangana and MNF in Mizoram.
It is believed that elections can be conducted in two phases in Chhattisgarh. Apart from these, it is possible to announce elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram in a single phase. The election process can start from the middle of November, which can continue till mid-December. There is a possibility that the Election Commission may fix the date for voting between 10 and 15 December.
When were the 2018 assembly elections announced?
In 2018, the Election Commission had announced the dates of assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram on 6 October. In the year 2018, elections were held in two phases in Chhattisgarh. Elections were held in a single phase in Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana. In Chhattisgarh, the first phase of voting was held on November 12 for 18 assembly seats, while the second phase of voting was held on November 20 for 72 assembly seats. Similarly, elections were held in one phase in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram on 28 November, while in Rajasthan and Telangana, voting was held on 7 December. The counting of election votes in all five states took place simultaneously on 11 December 2018.

There are a total of 119 assembly seats in Telangana, out of which BRS has 99 MLAs, Congress 7, AIMIM 7, BJP 3 and Independents 2. There is BRS government here and K Chandrashekhar Rao is the CM.

The tenure of Mizoram Assembly is ending on 17 December 2023.
The tenure of Madhya Pradesh Assembly will end on 6 January 2024.

Rajasthan's tenure will end on January 14, 2024 and a new government should be formed before that.
The tenure of Telangana Assembly is ending on 16 January 2024.
