Congress eyes Mayawati's vote bank, plans to woo Dalits on the pretext of Kanshi Ram

A meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Core Committee has been held in connection with the Dalit dialogue programs starting from the death anniversary of Kanshi Ram, in which a framework has been prepared to connect the Dalit community.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has started strengthening itself in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Congress's entire focus is on the vote bank of the Dalit community, for which BSP is taking the help of founder Kanshi Ram. Congress will run different programs among the Dalit community for one and a half months, from Kanshi Ram's Parinirvana Day on October 9 to Constitution Day on November 26. In this way, Congress has made a strategy to break into the traditional vote bank of BSP.

A meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Core Committee has been held in connection with the Dalit dialogue programs starting from the death anniversary of Kanshi Ram, in which a framework has been prepared to connect the Dalit community. Congress has made a strategy to establish contact with at least 250 Dalit voters in every assembly constituency through Dalit Gaurav Samvad, Dalit Gaurav Yatra and Ratri Chaupals. Congress has set a target of uniting as many Dalit communities as possible by organizing different programs from October 9 to November 26.

What is Congress planning?

The party will hold a meeting of Dalit leaders at the Uttar Pradesh Congress headquarters, contact 250 Dalits in each assembly constituency, hold night chaupals in Dalit settlements and get the rights demand letter filled by 500 Dalit families. Apart from this, discussion on Dalit agenda will be held in all the Lok Sabha constituencies, core group will be formed and Dalit Gaurav Yatra will be taken out in all the 18 divisions. During the next one and a half months, Congress will be seen making efforts to contact and connect with more than one lakh influential people of the Dalit community. In this regard, Congress leaders have started making more and more contacts in the Dalit settlements.

Ajay Rai started it

State President of Congress Ajay Rai has started this series with Dalits. Last week, he participated in a banquet program in a Dalit colony in Lucknow and interacted with Dalits. Only after that, the party decided on its strategy that before the Lok Sabha elections, a campaign should be launched to include 22 percent Dalit community. On the day of death of Kanshi Ram, Ajay Rai will be among the Dalit community in Mohanlalganj or Barabanki. Similarly, other party leaders will participate in programs to be held in different districts.

Dalit leaders of Congress will give edge to the campaign

To unite the Dalit community in Uttar Pradesh, Congress will also field its big Dalit leaders and other senior leaders. These veteran leaders will be seen getting authority papers filled in Dalit settlements. If sources are to be believed, leaders like Charanjit Singh Channi, who was the Chief Minister of Punjab, and Nitin Raut, who was a minister in the Maharashtra government, can also be fielded in the Dalit colonies of UP. Apart from this, PL Punia and other Dalit leaders of the state will also work to give edge to this campaign.

Keeping an eye on Dalit voters with the help of Kanshi Ram

Dalits, the core vote bank of BSP, were once traditional voters of Congress, who remained with Congress since independence till 1990. Kanshi Ram formed BSP to oppose Congress and create Dalit political consciousness and made UP a political laboratory. In UP, Dalit voters had left Congress and joined BSP, Congress made all efforts to bring them back, but could not succeed. In such a situation, the party has now made a strategy to connect the Dalit community with the help of Kanshi Ram's name.

Kanshi Ram had formed BSP based on the political vision of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the messiah of the Dalit community and creator of the Constitution, and had awakened political consciousness among the Dalits. Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram have the highest status among the great men and ideals of BSP. This is the reason why Congress is going to gamble on the politics of Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram along with Nehru and Gandhi. They want to follow the ideology of Ambedkar-Kanshi Ram because this is the need of the time.

Preparing to compete with BJP

BJP can be fought by following the path of Ambedkar-Kanshi Ram along with Nehru-Gandhi, because the rights of Dalits and backward people are being violated. In the name of Kanshi Ram, Rahul Gandhi is trying to maintain an emotional relationship with the Dalit community. He is trying to give a message to the Dalit community that SP is also not lagging behind in giving respect and political importance to Kanshi Ram. In this way, he wants to keep Mayawati aside and maintain his relationship with the Dalit community through the great men and leaders of BSP.

Rahul Gandhi following the footsteps of Kanshi Ram

Kanshi Ram has been the backbone of Mayawati's politics, who has created Dalit politics by roaming from village to village. In such a situation, there is the same kind of respect for Kanshi Ram among the Dalits even today, through which Congress is trying to win the trust of the Dalits. Congress has appointed Mallikarjun Kharge as its national president, who comes from the Dalit community. At the same time, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is following the footsteps of Kanshi Ram these days and is demanding equal share as per his participation. In this way, Rahul Gandhi and Congress have now completely stepped forward on the path of social justice. It remains to be seen how much Congress is able to win the hearts of Dalits with the help of Kanshi Ram?
