The farmer says that he is earning Rs 90 lakh from banana farming in just 9 months.

profits were less than costs

Pratap Lendve told that earlier he used to cultivate pomegranate. But the profit was less than the cost. In such a situation, on the advice of friends, he started banana farming. Pratap has a farm in Haldahiwadi of Sangola taluka. It is here that they are cultivating bananas. He says that he has sold bananas to traders from Jammu and Kashmir at the rate of Rs 35 per kg. This gave him an income of Rs 90 lakh from 6 acres.

Production of 50 tons of banana was found in one acre.

Farmer Pratap Lendve cultivates bananas in 6 acres of land. The quality of the bananas from his farm is so good that traders themselves come to the farm and buy bananas from him. Pratap Lendve says that he cultivates bananas using scientific method. Also, crops are irrigated through drip irrigation. They benefited from this and got a good yield. According to them, the weight of one banana bunch is between 55 to 60 kg. This is the reason why Pratap got the production of 50 tons of banana in one acre. In this way, he earned Rs 90 lakh by selling bananas at the rate of Rs 14 lakh per acre in 9 months.
