After blockbuster films like Pathan, Gadar 2 and Jawan, fans had high expectations from Akshay Kumar's film Mission Raniganj, which was released this week. Mission Raniganj, made with a budget of around Rs 100 crore, proved to be a failure at the box office on the very first day. Mission Raniganj made very less collection on the opening day. At the same time, Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila and Dolly Singh's film Thank You for Coming also flopped badly. It is also finding difficult to earn money for this film.
Even though Akshay Kumar's acting and the story of the film in Mission Raniganj are being praised, the film is failing to be successful at the box office. Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj, which gave a great film like OMG 2, did a business of only Rs 2.80 crore on the first day. The advance booking of the film was Rs 70-80 lakh, which is quite low.
Mission Raniganj, directed by Suresh Desai, has been produced by Pooja Entertainment. Parineeti Chopra has played the role of Akshay Kumar's wife in the film. This film is based on a true incident, in which the story of coal engineer Jaswant Singh Gill has been shown on screen. Jaswant Gill had rescued 65 laborers trapped in a coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal.
Bhumi Pednekar's film Thank You for Coming, released this week, did badly at the box office. Thank You for Coming is a complete women oriented film. This is Shehnaz Gill's second film. Despite promoting Thank You for Coming heavily, the film failed to earn Rs 1 crore. Thank You for Coming has collected only Rs 80 lakh on the first day.
