Mitchell Starc broke Malinga's record, became the fastest bowler to take 50 wickets in the World Cup.

 


Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc made a special record in his name in the ODI World Cup 2023 match against India on Sunday (8 October). Starc dismissed Ishan Kishan in the very first over of the innings. Kishan, who was making his World Cup debut, played a bad shot on the ball going outside and gave an easy catch to Cameron Green in the slips. 

By dismissing Kishan, Starc has made the record of taking the fastest 50 wickets in the ODI World Cup. Starc has achieved this feat in the 19th innings. In this case, he broke the record of Lasith Malinga, who had taken 50 wickets in 25 innings in the World Cup. 

Starc is the fifth bowler in the history of this tournament to have taken 50 or more wickets.
