More than 300 Israeli companies have investments in India, business ranges from diamonds to weapons.

On one hand, India is worried about its citizens trapped in Israel, and on the other hand, there is a fear that this war will affect the business worth billions of dollars. Both India and Israel have been strategic and trade friends of each other for a long time, and have also held several rounds of talks on free trade agreements.

For Israel, India is the third largest trading partner in Asia, while India exports a large amount to Israel. Not only this, a large number of Indians work in construction and nursing fields in Israel. More than 40,000 Indians currently work in different areas of Israel.

300 Israeli companies invest in India

If we talk about trade relations between India and Israel, more than 300 Israeli companies have invested in India. FDI from Israel to India has reached 285 million dollars. Israeli investment in Indian projects has crossed $270 million.

If we look at the import and export between India and Israel, in the last financial year 2022-23, India imported about 1400 types of goods from Israel. This includes pearls, gems and jewellery, fertilizers, electronic components and crude etc. This trade is worth about 2.32 billion dollars.

On the other hand, India has exported about 3500 items to Israel. It will be around $8.45 billion in 2022-23. India supplies cut diamonds, jewellery, consumer electronics and engineering goods to Israel. Both the countries are talking to each other regarding a free trade agreement from 2022.

Adani's big investment

Industrialist Gautam Adani has also made big investments in Israel. A deal worth $1.18 billion has been signed between Adani Port and Gadot regarding Haifa Port, Israel's largest port. Whereas both the countries have signed many agreements for cooperation in startup and technology. Both are working together in the field of solar, wind and renewable energy.

With the help of Israel, India is also working on water technology. For this, a Water Resource Management and Water Technology Center has been created in IIT Madras. India is also getting Israeli technology in the agriculture sector.

Not only this, India is also very important for Israel. India is the largest country and biggest buyer of arms from Israel. India has so far purchased many military weapons and systems from Israel.
