Why is Navratri celebrated twice a year?

Both Navratri falls during the transition period of seasons. This is the time when we fall ill. Therefore, our sages have made a provision to observe fast for 9 days along with religious rituals. It is said that if one fasts by eating fruits for nine days, then diseases and disorders are eliminated from the body. Not only this, the body also gets prepared to fight diseases for the next 6 months. Apart from this, religious rituals also lead to spiritual purification.

Difference between Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri

Shardiya Navratri is considered a symbol of Shakti worship, whereas Chaitra Navratri is famous for achieving Siddhi.

Shardiya Navratri is related to the killing of Mahishasura and the killing of Ravana by Ram. At the same time, the Goddess is worshiped during Chaitra Navratri.

Dussehra is celebrated by burning Ravana on the Dashami day of Shardiya Navratri. At the same time, Ram ji's birthday is celebrated as Ram Navami on the Navami of Chaitra Navratri.

Shardiya Navratri marks the beginning of winter after summer and rainy season. At the same time, Chaitra Navratri brings with it summer after winter.
