During Navratri, devotees from every corner of the country come to Vrindavan to visit Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth temple and pray for their wishes. Let us tell you that this Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth temple of Vrindavan Mathura is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is also known as Uma Shaktipeeth. It is located inside the Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple in Vrindavan. Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth is worth seeing in the temple of Vrindavan Dham. It was at this place that the hair of Mother Sati had fallen and this Shaktipeeth is situated in Vrindavan, 12 kilometers away from Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna. Radha ji along with the Gopis had worshiped at this place to get Krishna as her husband. Special worship is done here during Navratri days.
Mother Sati could not bear this
It is said in the scriptures that Sati ji's father had organized a yagya and had invited all the gods in it. But did not call Shivji. When Sati came to know that her husband had not invited Lord Shiva, she went to her father's house without inviting him. When she asked her father the reason for not calling her husband, Sati's father said very bad things about Lord Shiva, hearing which Sati could not bear it and jumped into the Havan Kund. When the Lord's followers informed Lord Shiva about this incident, he became very distraught and started wandering here and there carrying the burnt body of Sati on his shoulders and started the orgy.
Shaktipeeth is made of 51 body parts
When Lord Shiva started the Tandav, cataclysm started in the world, all the gods got scared and took refuge in Lord Vishnu. After apologizing to Mother Sati, Lord Vishnu cut Sati's body into 51 parts and whichever part fell, that place became Shaktipeeth. Mother Sati's hair had fallen at this place on the banks of Yamuna in Vrindavan. Since then it got the recognition of Katyayani Shaktipeeth.
According to Sri Madbhagwat text, the Gopis worshiped Mother Katyayani Devi along with Radha to get Krishna as their husband. From then till today, unmarried girls here pray to Mother Sati to get the husband as per their wish. Devotees come here in thousands to seek the blessings of the Mother Goddess.
