The Nobel Prize for Physics has been announced on Tuesday. This time this award has been given to three people. Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Cruz and Anne L'Huillier have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics this time. According to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, this award has been given for finding an experimental method that generates attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron mobility in matter.
BREAKING NEWS
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2023 #NobelPrize in Physics to Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier “for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter.” pic.twitter.com/6sPjl1FFzv
Let us tell you that Pierre Agostini succeeded in making and examining a series of continuous light pulses. In their experiment each pulse lasted only 250 attoseconds. While Pier Agostini was engaged in his research, his 2023 co-prize winner Ferenc Krosz was engaged in another study. Through his research he made it possible to isolate a single light pulse lasting up to 650 attoseconds.
Similarly, Nobel laureate in physics Anne L'Huillier transmitted laser light through a gas, which then produced many different tones of light.
What do Nobel winners get?
Nobel Prize winners are given a gold medal and certificate as well as a prize money of 10 million kronor (about nine lakh dollars). This honor is given to scientists who win the Nobel Prize every year on 10 December. Let us tell you that Alfred Nobel died on 10 December 1896.
