We are talking about the recent 'PM Vishwakarma Yojana' of the Central Government, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on 17th September. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to crores of hardworking people like goldsmiths, blacksmiths, carpenters, sculptors and masons.
Connection to caste census
The purpose of the caste census data released by the Bihar government is to find out the ratio of the population of a particular caste in the state and its participation in power. In the figures, there are many castes which are directly entitled to avail government benefits under PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Therefore, it has a connection with PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
Now, according to the caste census of Bihar government, the population of carpenter community in the state is 1.45 percent. Whereas under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the facility of giving loan to carpenters at cheaper interest rates has been given. Similarly, in the caste census, there is mention of barber population which is 1.59 percent in the state. Whereas in PM Vishwakarma Yojana, there has been talk of giving training to the people of this society.
PM Vishwakarma Yojana will benefit
In the PM Vishwakarma scheme implemented by the government, the target has been set to provide financial assistance to those doing traditional professions like masons, potters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, sculptors and artisans, besides carpenters and barbers. The people doing all these jobs in the country mostly come from Backward Class (OBC) or Extremely Backward Class (EBC). According to the census of Bihar state, their total population is 63 percent.
Benefits of PM Vishwakarma:
Under this scheme, the government will issue recognition or identity cards to such people. People will be given training for 40 hours i.e. 5-7 days according to their skills. If the candidate wants, he can take training for 120 hours i.e. 15 days. For this he will get a stipend of Rs 500 per day.
The second part of this scheme is financial help. The government will give a grant of Rs 15,000 to traditional workers for toolkit upgrade. If a person wants to start his own business, he will be given a loan of Rs 1 lakh and if he pays the installments on time, he will be given a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh. For this, the interest rate will be 5 percent per annum, while the loan will be guaranteed by the Government of India.
The government will encourage these people for digital transactions and will also help in e-commerce, trade fairs, publicity, advertising etc.
