RBI Governor gave important information regarding Rs 2000 notes during the press conference after the RBI policy meeting. This information has come at a time when the deadline for depositing and exchanging notes in banks is going to end in a few hours. The deadline for exchanging and depositing Rs 2000 notes in banks is 7th October. Before that this deadline was fixed as 30th September. Later it was increased to October 7. RBI Governor gave information

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has given important information regarding Rs 2000 note. He told that out of the Rs 3.43 lakh crore Rs 2,000 notes returned since May, 87 percent have come in the form of deposits in banks. He said that even now Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 12 thousand crores are frozen in the market and have not returned to the banking system. Banks are also waiting for these notes. Rs 12 thousand crores is not less. In such a situation, the biggest question is what will happen to this money after October 7? Will this money go waste? Many similar questions are flashing in everyone's mind.

What will happen after tomorrow?

After October 7, 2023, exchange of Rs 2000 bank notes will be allowed only in 19 RBI issue offices. There will be a maximum cash deposit limit of Rs 20,000 notes per transaction. At any of the 19 issue offices of RBI, people or institutions can issue Rs 2000 bank notes for credit of any amount into their Indian bank accounts. There is also a facility to send these notes to RBI through the postal department. At the same time, courts, legal enforcement agencies, government departments or any other public authority involved in investigation or enforcement, whenever necessary, can deposit or exchange Rs 2000 bank notes in any of the 19 RBI issue offices without any permission.
