Now only a short time is left for Navratri, one of the biggest festivals of Hindu religion. With the conclusion of Pitru Paksha, this festival dedicated to Maa Durga will begin and 9 forms of Maa Durga will be worshiped for the entire 9 days. These 9 days have special significance for the devotees of Maa Durga. Kalash is established on the first day of Navratri and then worship is done with full rituals.
It is believed that during Navratri, Mother Durga comes to earth and stays on earth. Every year the vehicles used for their arrival are also different which have special significance. How are vehicles estimated?
What will be the occasion of arrival of Maa Durga depends on which day Navratri is starting. That is, if Navratri starts from Sunday or Monday then Maa Darga comes to Earth riding on an elephant. Whereas if Navratri starts from Saturday or Tuesday then the vehicle is a horse. When Navratri starts on Thursday and Friday, Maa Durga comes in a doli and on Wednesday, Maa Durga comes on a boat.
This year Shardiya Navratri is starting from 15th October. This day is falling on Sunday. That means Mata Rani will come riding on an elephant this year.
Different meaning of each vehicle
Every vehicle of Mata Rani has a different meaning from which it can be predicted how the next year will be. Mother Durga's coming on an elephant means more rain, while coming on a horse means war, and coming on a boat is considered beneficial.
Meaning of coming riding on an elephant
Mata Rani is going to arrive on elephant this year. According to religious beliefs, it is considered an auspicious sign which will increase happiness, knowledge and prosperity.
