Swiggy has given a big gift to its customers during the World Cup. Due to which online food delivery platforms are earning bumper income these days. The reason for this is the charge collected from people in the name of platform charge. Actually, Swiggy has reduced the platform charge on its orders. Earlier, when ordering food from Swiggy, people had to pay a platform fee of Rs 5, now it has been reduced by Rs 2 to Rs 3. Record food and grocery orders have been placed on Swiggy during the World Cup. Due to which the online food and grocery delivery platform has generated bumper earnings.
Zomato also increased platform charge
When Swiggy started charging Rs 3 from its customers, its rival Zomato has also increased its platform charge from Rs 2 to Rs 3 at some places. However, this charge gives some concession to the customers of Zomato Gold and Swiggy One.
This is how Swiggy is filling your bag with Rs 3
Suppose you placed 4 orders from Swiggy in a day, there was a platform charge of Rs 3 on each order. Now, apart from your orders, Swiggy has earned Rs 12 only from platform fees alone. Now, if Swiggy receives 1 lakh orders a day, then after imposing a platform charge of Rs 3 on these, there is a bumper increase in Swiggy's earnings. Swiggy has implemented its new platform charge from October 4, a day before the World Cup.
Benefit of world cup
Now even during the World Cup, when people ordered food and goods in large numbers on Swiggy, platform charges were collected from the people. Due to this, the online food delivery platform has made huge profits. At the same time, due to this decision of Swiggy, its rival Zomato is getting strong competition.
