A big news is coming out regarding the medical colleges of the country. Most of the medical colleges of the country are running without faculty. This information has been given by the National Medical Commission i.e. NMC. Most of the medical colleges which were evaluated by NMC during the year 2022-23 were found to have 'ghost faculty'. The big thing is that none of the medical colleges evaluated met the standard of 50 percent attendance. This is recorded only in documents. Those who get salary but do not go to work.
While giving information on Sunday, the National Medical Commission said that the condition of medical colleges as well as institutes is the same. The attendance of students in medical institutes is also below 50 percent. In fact, NMC had evaluated 246 undergraduate medical colleges in 27 states for the purpose of granting recognition and issuing recognition to medical colleges for 2022-23. In which it was found out what is the ground reality of the colleges.
Students do not come to the emergency department
According to NMC, most of the medical college students do not go to the emergency department regularly, because there is no one there except the emergency medical officer to talk to them.
Let us tell you that the Association of Emergency Physicians of India had complained about the exclusion of emergency medical specialists for the new colleges of NMC. That means, emergency department is not necessary in the new medical colleges that are being built.
The NMC report states that the number of medical colleges with academic emergency departments increased from 45 to 134. Whereas MD emergency medical seats have increased from 120 to 462.
