The real name of Durga Bhabhi, who was born on this day in 1906 in Shahzadpur, Kaushambi, was Durgavati. But for all the revolutionaries she remained Durga Bhabhi throughout her life. His father Banke Bihari Bhatt was Nazir in Ghaziabad Collectorate. Her husband Bhagwati Charan Bohra was also a revolutionary and died on 28 May 1930 after being hit by a bomb while testing it on the banks of the Ravi river.

At the time of her husband's death, Durga Bhabhi's son Sachin was in her lap. Despite this, Durga Bhabhi tied a shroud on her head in the service of the country. Today Sachin Bohra is an engineer and works in Meerut. The story of driving away the revolutionaries after Saunders's murder is also surprising. In fact, after this incident, the police was searching for the revolutionaries at every nook and corner. In such a situation, Durga Bhabhi made Bhagat Singh the English Seth. Then she disguised Rajguru as a servant and went with him as an English lady, becoming his wife.

The revolutionaries were rescued from the British and taken to Kolkata.

To throw dust in the eyes of the British, she also dressed her son Sachin in the clothes of the children of the British rich and left for Kolkata. Chandrashekhar Azad was walking with him with a mouse hidden in his waist, but he was in the guise of Panda from Mathura. Even in the train, he sat at a distance from Durga Bhabhi. In this way all these revolutionaries were successful in escaping from here. In the same sequence, in the year 1934, when Durga Bhabhi was in Mumbai, the havoc of Bombay Governor Haley was at its peak.

Durga Bhabhi talked to the revolutionary friends. It was decided that Haley should also be given the same death as Saunders. But the revolutionaries started getting delayed in reaching. In such a situation, Durga Bhabhi herself set out to kill Haley with a pistol in her hand. As soon as Governor Haley appeared in front, they opened fire indiscriminately. Haley was saved in this, but Durga Bhabhi was caught and she was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment.

Died in Ghaziabad

After the independence of the country, Durga Bhabhi spent her entire life in social service. She came to Ghaziabad in the 70s and it was here that she breathed her last. The specialty of Durga Bhabhi was that she was fearless and used to talk to the British by looking them in the eyes. Because of this, no one quickly suspected her and she used this to take advantage of her revolutionary comrades.
