In Karnataka's capital Bengaluru city, the shelter installed for BMTC bus, located at a distance of 1 kilometer from the Assembly, was stolen. It is being told that the cost of building this shelter was Rs 10 lakh. In a complaint given to the police, it has been said that the shelter was stolen about a week after it was installed. This shelter was installed on Cunningham Road, a busy road in the city. The company which has been given the work of setting up the shelters has complained about this in the police station.
According to the information, BBMP has given the work to a company to build bus shelters in the city. N Ravi Reddy, an officer of the company, has filed a complaint regarding this entire matter on September 30 itself. It is being told that this shelter was made of stainless steel which was very strong.
Police have registered a case under IPC section 279 (offence of theft). It has been told in the complaint that this shelter was installed on 21st August. But, when the company employees went to see this shelter on August 28, they did not see anything on the spot. He asked the BBMP officials whether they had any information about the disappearance of the shelter, to which they clearly denied this. After this he decided to complain and approached the police.
Let us tell you that the shelter which was stolen used to provide shade to hundreds of travelers who go to Lingarajapuram, Hennur, Banaswadi, Pulakeshinagar, Gangenahalli, Hebal and Yelahanka. A passenger said that the old bus shelter was demolished a few days ago because it was very dilapidated and could pose a danger to passengers during heavy rains. At present, only a small shelter is left at the bus stand which can accommodate only 20 passengers.
