INDIA alliance has been formed against BJP in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, but there is a tussle regarding the candidate for the post of PM. Demand has started to arise from Bihar to make Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the PM candidate, but hardly other constituent parties will agree to it.
Both the ruling party and the opposition are keeping a close eye on the Lok Sabha elections. The opposition alliance INDIA was formed to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP from power, but all the discussions and speculations are about this alliance. Who will be the PM candidate in the opposition alliance? There is an uproar in national politics on this. The name of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is coming out as the candidate for the post of Prime Minister. However, there is considerable doubt whether the rest of INDIA will agree to accept Nitish Kumar as the face of the Prime Minister?
The third meeting of INDIA alliance was held in Mumbai on 31 August and 1 September. In that meeting, many plans were made to oust BJP from power. Committees and sub-committees were also formed, but even after the meetings in Patna, Bengaluru and Mumbai, the main question in the INDIA alliance remains that who will be the prime ministerial face of the alliance?
Meanwhile, RJP spokesperson and MLA Bhai Virendra, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Maheshwar Hazari and JDU leader Lalan Singh demanded that Nitish Kumar be made the PM candidate. Everyone said that Nitish Kumar has all the qualities for the post of PM and if INDIA alliance declares the name of the candidate for the post of PM, then it will be Nitish Kumar only.
Meaning of the demand to make Nitish the PM
Although before this, Trinamool Congress leaders have been demanding to make West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee the PM candidate, but like Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee has also been ignoring this demand, but now when If an alliance has been formed, then what is the meaning of the demand to make Nitish Kumar the PM candidate?
Senior journalist of Bihar Om Prakash Ashk says that ever since Nitish Kumar has come with RJD. Since then there has been discussion that the post of CM should be given to Tejashwi and the post of PM should be given to Nitish. Nitish Kumar did not respond initially. In later days, when he did not get support on this issue, he started saying that he was not in the race for the post of PM. Although at that time JDU leader Upendra Kushwaha had opposed it and said that if Tejashwi becomes CM, JDU will end, but now RJD camp has started demanding that Nitish Kumar should be made the PM candidate.
He said that brother Virendra has been very close to the Lalu family. Be it Lalan Singh or Maheshwar Hazari or Bhai Veenendra. Everyone means the same thing that Nitish Kumar should leave Bihar. There is speculation that Maheshwar Hazari is in touch with LJP's Chirag Paswan. Nitish had also interrupted, but there are some people inside JDU who want to destabilize Nitish Kumar.
He says that his allegiance is being shown elsewhere. Allegations are also being made that Lalan Singh has met RJD. RJD is using him to break JDU. There has been turmoil within JDU in recent times. That is the result of this. Lalan Singh came to the rescue when Manoj Jha read a poem about Thakur, but Sanjay Jha, who was closest to Nitish Kumar, advised him to avoid such statements.
Local politics dominates national politics
In this way, the politics of Bihar is now being dominated by the politics of INDIA alliance. Even though the top leaders of the INDIA alliance talk about joint leadership, the lower level leaders and workers are busy voting for the leader of their own party. There has already been discussion between RJD and JDU regarding making Nitish Kumar the Prime Ministerial candidate.
RJD leaders also spread chadar in Phulwarisharif and prayed for Nitish Kumar to become the Prime Minister. RJD has no problem in supporting JDU. According to him, someone from Bihar should be made the Prime Minister. Nitish Kumar is a worthy candidate. However, India's ally Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has reiterated that there should be a system where all 1.4 billion people become the Prime Minister and not any particular person.
Nitish's dream of becoming Prime Minister has been criticized by his old friend and voter Prashant Kishore. He said, 'Those who do not have a single MP in the Lok Sabha are dreaming of becoming Prime Minister.' Union Minister Giriraj Singh also took a dig. On the other hand, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has promised to make the country's 1.4 billion people the Prime Minister, which is practically impossible. In other words, Kejriwal is raising questions on the alliance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Apart from the post of PM, many more issues
However, inability to decide on the Prime Ministerial candidate is not the only reason for the controversy in INDIA Alliance, there are many issues which have not been resolved yet. One of these is seat sharing. Recently, INDIA Alliance had organized a joint rally in Madhya Pradesh, but that meeting was canceled at the last moment. Doubts have arisen over the future plans of the alliance. Another problem is inter-coalition disagreement over the census.
There is a heated dispute going on between the allies of Bharat Alliance in different states also. In Punjab, Congress has said that it will field candidates on all 13 seats. Congress is also preparing to contest alone on 7 Lok Sabha seats of Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party is extremely angry with this behavior of Congress.
On the other hand, the situation is similar in West Bengal also. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Choudhary is continuously attacking Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee. He took a sharp dig at the recent visit of the Chief Minister to Spain. NCP leader Sharad Pawar once again taught Adhir to exercise patience. On the other hand, Trinamool had objected to the caste-based census.
conflict between constituent parties
In Tamil Nadu too, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin is at loggerheads with Congress after his controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma. Overall, Congress's clash with several parties in the alliance, especially Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, may increase uneasiness...Basically the problem lies with Congress. Apart from BJP, Congress is in conflict with many regional parties in many states.
After joining the alliance, India will have to compromise with them. For example, earlier in Uttar Pradesh, Congress was fighting with Samajwadi Party. Now they are allies. Left and Congress formed an alliance to defeat Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. This time he is not ready to join hands with Trinamool in the Lok Sabha elections.
The conflict between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress is at its peak in Delhi and Punjab. In Gujarat, Congress is fighting with BJP as well as AAP. Even in Himachal Pradesh, Congress is uncomfortable with the way AAP is increasing its strength. The situation is similar in Goa also. Overall, the path of INDIA alliance is full of thorns. There are many crises facing the alliance at this time, they will have to make a lot of preparations to overcome these crises.
