Why should kidney patients not take high protein in their diet? Know what is the reason

Kidney patients should avoid taking excessive amounts of protein in their diet. Let us know why

High Protein Diet For Kidney Patients: People whose kidneys have become weak, doctors mostly refuse to eat high protein food. Because protein food can prove harmful for such people. If someone's kidney has become weak, then he should be careful in eating more protein food. Because the job of the kidney is to remove toxic substances made from protein out of the body. But if the kidneys are damaged, they are not able to function properly. Therefore doctors advise to eat less protein. So let us know what harm can happen to a kidney patient by eating too much protein.

Further burden on the kidneys increases.

The job of the kidneys is to remove toxic substances and excess water from the body. When the kidney gets damaged, it is unable to function properly. In such a situation, if we eat too much protein, the kidneys will not be able to filter the nitrogen-containing toxic substances that are formed due to the decomposition of protein. These toxic substances will accumulate in the kidneys and cause damage to the kidneys. Therefore, a kidney patient should keep the amount of protein in his diet low. Protein should be consumed as per doctor's advice. If too much protein is consumed, pressure on the kidneys may increase and it may be damaged. Therefore caution should be taken.

Toxic waste will get accumulated in the body.

Eating too much protein causes toxic waste of protein to get accumulated in the body, which puts more pressure on the kidneys. If the kidneys become weak then they are not able to do enough to expel the toxic substances from the body. Due to this, these toxic substances start accumulating in the body and gradually increase the pressure on the kidneys. This is called poisonous protein stool which can harm the kidneys.

Stones and joint pain:

When we eat high protein foods like meat, fish, eggs, pulses etc., it causes more uric acid to be produced in the body. And it accumulates in the kidneys, causing kidney stones and also pain and swelling in the joints.

The patient starts feeling more weak.

Eating more protein increases potassium, phosphorus, calcium etc. in the blood which causes more harm. It is common for the patient to lose appetite, vomit and feel weak. In such a situation, doctors advise that kidney patients should take protein in small quantities only.
