World Cup 2023: India defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets, Rohit Sharma-Jasprit Bumrah became the heroes of victory.

 


In the 9th match of ICC World Cup 2023, India defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets with the help of captain Rohit Sharma's record century. The aggressive style in which he batted was brilliant. Rohit has the most number of centuries (7) in World Cup history. Captain Hashmatullah and Azmatullah played half-century innings for Afghanistan. In this match played in Delhi, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. 

Batting first, Afghanistan scored 272 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs. Hashmatullah Shahidi scored the most runs for Afghanistan. He played a half-century of 80 runs in 88 balls with the help of 8 fours and one six. Azmatullah Omarzai played a half-century inning of 62 runs in 69 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes. Azmatullah and Hashmatullah added 121 (128) runs. Jasprit Bumrah took maximum 4 wickets for India. Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur were successful in taking one wicket each. 

Chasing the target, the Indian team won the match by losing 2 wickets in 35 overs and scoring 273 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma scored the most runs for India. He played a century inning of 131 runs in 84 balls with the help of 14 fours and 5 sixes. He scored this century in 63 balls. Virat Kohli played an unbeaten half-century of 55 runs with the help of 6 fours in 56 balls. Whereas Ishan Kishan played an inning of 47 runs in 47 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. Rohit made an excellent partnership of 156 (112) runs with him for the first wicket. Rashid Khan got 2 wickets for Afghanistan.
