This player retired after Babar Azam
After Babar Azam left the captaincy, one player of the team has retired. Actually, the Pakistani cricketer who has announced his retirement is none other than the team's all-rounder Imad Wasim. He announced his retirement on his X account, where he thanked the PCB and all his teammates as well as the fans for their support during his international career. While sharing the post on his ex account he wrote,
“I have been thinking a lot about my international career in recent times and I have come to the conclusion that now is the right time to announce my retirement from international cricket. I would like to thank the PCB for their support over the years – it has truly been an honor to represent Pakistan. Each of my 121 appearances in ODI and T20 formats was a dream come true. It is an exciting time for Pakistan cricket moving forward with the arrival of new coaches and leadership. I look forward to everyone getting involved and look forward to seeing the team excel.”
“Thank you to the Pakistan fans for always supporting me with so much passion. A final thank you to my family and friends, who have been very important in helping me reach the highest level. “I am now looking forward to focusing on the next phase of my sporting career away from the international stage.”
Had a good cricket career
Imad Wasim played 55 ODI matches, where he scored 986 runs at a very good average of 42.86, while bowling, he took 44 wickets. In T20I, he has 65 wickets in 66 matches, while with the bat he has been able to score only 486 runs at an average of 15.18. Wasim last played ODI for Pakistan in 2020 against Zimbabwe, while his last T20 match was against New Zealand in Rawalpindi in 2023.
