Dhanteras 2023: The festival of Diwali begins from Dhanteras itself. Goddess Lakshmi and Kuber, the god of wealth, are worshiped on Dhantrayodashi i.e. Dhanteras. This year Dhanteras will be celebrated on Friday 10th November. People buy many things on Dhanteras to please Lord Kuber. It is believed that shopping on Dhanteras is considered auspicious.
Let us tell you that according to Panchang, this day is Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. On this day people buy utensils, houses, vehicles, gadgets and jewellery. Buy a broom
Buying a broom on the day of Dhanteras is considered very auspicious. Broom is considered a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi. Broom works to remove dirt and dust from the house. This is the reason why people definitely buy brooms on Dhanteras.
Lakshmi Charan
Along with brooms, people buy Lakshmi Charan on the day of Dhanteras. In fact, from this day itself, preparations to bring Goddess Lakshmi into the house also begin. Buying Lakshmi Charan on Dhantrayodashi is considered auspicious. It is considered an invitation for the entry of Goddess Lakshmi. You can place the feet of Goddess Lakshmi at the main door coming inward or you can place them at the place of worship.
Betel leaves
Buying betel leaves on the day of Dhanteras is also considered very auspicious. It is said that betel leaves are very dear to Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, on Dhanteras, buy 5 betel leaves and offer them to Goddess Lakshmi. Leave these leaves till Diwali and then float them in running water.
Lakshmi-Ganesh idol
Apart from this, one can also buy idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha on Dhan Trayodashi. Most people buy idols made of silver or clay on this day. Buying the idol of Lakshmi Ganesh on Dhanteras is considered very auspicious.
