Dry cleaning is nothing but general cleaning of clothes where more than 100 clothes are washed simultaneously using chemical solutions and steam instead of water and detergent. Some clothes cannot be washed with water. Because they damage the clothes. With dry clean, there is no fear of the clothes getting torn, worn or stained; stains and spots are easily removed. 

How dry cleaners wash clothes:

Dry cleaners use a special chemical to wash clothes. They use Perchloroethylene, which is a chlorinated solvent. Apart from this, petroleum based solvents like Stoddard solvent, hydrocarbon solvent etc. are mixed in it. 

Dry cleaning process:

There is a big machine for dry cleaning. This machine is similar to washing but bigger. First the clothes are placed in the machine and the door is closed. Then solvent is added and the machine is turned on. Water and detergent are not used in this. The machine rotates the internal drum and circulates the solvent on the clothes, thereby cleaning the clothes. After 8-10 minutes, the machine is stopped and the solvent is removed and the clothes are taken out to dry. 

Know why dry cleaning is expensive. 

After dry cleaning, the clothes are folded and kept in the pressing machine to dry them evenly. This process is repeated several times so that moisture is removed from every part of the clothes. Finally, the clothes are hung on hangers and their final pressing is done. In this way clothes are dry cleaned. Chemicals and petroleum solvents are quite expensive, hence when clothes are given for dry cleaning, they cost up to Rs 200-300.
