Maxwell's century overshadowed Gaikwad's century, Australia defeated India by 5 wickets in a thrilling match.

 


Australia defeated India by 5 wickets in the third T20 International match with the help of Glenn Maxwell's century. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a century for India but it went in vain. With this victory, Australia has retained itself in this series. India is leading 2-1 in this series. Australia scored 80 runs in the last 5 overs. 

Batting first, India posted a score of 222 runs on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets in 20 overs. For India, the maximum runs came from the bat of Gaikwad. He scored his first T20 International century in 52 balls. He completed his century by hitting a six. He played an unbeaten century of 123 runs in 57 balls with the help of 13 fours and 7 sixes. He scored a total of 30 runs (6 N4 1 1 Wd 6 6 4) by hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours in the last over of Glenn Maxwell. 

Captain Suryakumar Yadav played an inning of 39 runs in 29 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. Tilak Verma scored 31* runs in 24 balls with the help of 4 fours. Gaikwad and Tilak made a partnership of 141* (59) runs. Jason Behrendorff, Kane Richardson and Aaron Hardy got one wicket each for Australia. 

Chasing the target, the Australian team won the match by losing 5 wickets in 20 overs and scoring 225 runs. Glenn Maxwell scored the most runs for Australia. Maxwell played an unbeaten century of 104 runs with the help of 8 fours and 8 sixes in 48 balls. This was his 100th T20 International match which he made memorable. 

Travis Head faced 18 balls and contributed 35 runs with the help of 8 fours. Captain Matthew Wade played an unbeaten inning of 28 runs in 16 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. Maxwell and Wade made a partnership of 91* (40). Ravi Bishnoi took maximum 2 wickets for India. Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Akshar Patel got one wicket each.
